This Master‘s thesis wants to find out about the learning strategies of Styrias environment and education institituon, the “Umwelt-Bildungs-Zentrum Steiermark“. The aim of the thesis is to gain an insight into the influencing factors, the development as well as the process of planned and unplanned learning in the selected educational organization. It is assumed that in addition to inidvidual learning processes there are also organizational ones. The theoretical part of the thesis brings together the themes associated with the term organizational learning, i.e. learning culture as well as organization and learning in the working area, In the empirical survey the “Umwelt-Bildungs-Zentrum Steiermark“ is the subject object of a case study . Two qualitative research methods are used as part of the case study. Theme-focused, semi-structured interviews are conducted with the stuff. The data analysis is carried out based on projekt reports, catalogues and mission statements. According to the data analysis, learning processes take place on individual, group and organizational level. Individual learning happens because of people who resigned from the project as well as mentorship. Planned learning might be noticed due to doing external further eduction programmes as well as the jour fix meetings that improve communication because it enables the stuff to exchange information. Organizational learnings characteristics that were presented in the theoretical part can be found in the empirical survey. There are the following key elements of a learning organization: the development of patience, the high concentrations of energy as well as the shared vision. Furthermore, the constant reflection process about organizational learning‘s difficulties and strengths might be regarded as part of organizational learning.
