The fact that two ethnic groups living in Carinthia for a long time side by side, conflicts are inevitable, which are also the subject of this study. This is especially the controversy regarding the Slovenian language in focus, showing, among other things in bilingual education or in the dispute over bilingual place-name signs. As well as the majority population in the bilingualism of the Carinthian Slovenes often sees a threat, is often pursued an anti-Slovenian line in politics. Especially in the field of education this pace is clearly an attempt for a long time to remove the Slovenian lessons from school or carry out a strict separation of the Slovene-speaking and German-speaking pupils. Furthermore, the autonomous Slovenian representatives have in politics have little impact, whereby the discrimination of the Slovene minority can also be easily enforced. On the basis of issues to be analyzed in this context also, like the defamation strategies affect the Carinthian Slovenes and their status in society.Ultimately, it can be stated that the Slovenian minority has a tough time in Carinthia. Through the democratic form of government, where the majority principle applies, they must bow to the wishes and regulations of the majority population. Therefore, analogous conditions do not exist. However, a satisfactory development can also be noted. In the field of culture minority and majority are working together. Here the Slovene minority has established itself with its peculiarities, which also contributes to the strengthening of the ethnic group. Nevertheless, it must be stated as a fact that the Carinthian Slovenes have highly minimized in recent decades. Whether this trend continues, remains to be seen.
