The masterthesis deals with interdisciplinary teaching in the subjects of History, Social Studies and Political Education and Geography and Economics working on the European Union. At the beginning of this thesis, the theoretical aspects of interdisciplinary teaching are being treated. This chapter shows not only the weaknesses and strengths of this type of teaching but also to what extent these two subjects are suitable to be taught in correlation. One subchapter takes a closer look on the principles of political education, which has been gaining importance in recent years when working on the European Union in school. After that, various teaching materials concerning the issue of EU are presented and analysed based on various pedagogical parameters. As an example of interdisciplinary teaching, a four-hour teaching sequence is presented. This sequence is analysed on the basis of subject specific didactical issues. The last chapter deals with the evaluation of the lesson that was conducted by teachers and students as well. The students and teachers received different feedback sheets for a thorough analysis of interdisciplinary teaching. Finally, these results are analysed and evaluated.
