The following paper describes the discipline cross-country skiing and practical teaching methods in a 16-hour module for the modular degree course of the sixth grade. The theoretical part consists of the organisational and structural set-up of the modular degree course for the sixth grade, which has been tested since 2004 and will, as of 2017/18, be mandatory for all general and vocational upper secondary schools. Furthermore, a description of the discipline cross-country skiing with chapters containing information on its development, equipment and usage of the cross-country skiing techniques „classical“ and „skating“ with accompanying movement descriptions and areas of application will be given. The practical part of the paper consists of an exemplary teaching concept to convey the aforementioned cross-country skiing techniques. The content will be conveyed via co-educational teaching, while taking into account various teaching concepts. Teaching is conducted via various social and teaching methods with the goal to support the individual learning process of the pupil. Essential factors for the learning process are observation and reflection of the individual movements. The goal of the exemplary teaching concept is the application of basic forms of the most important cross-country skiing techniques while taking into consideration the prevailing external circumstances. The concluding section consists of a selection of useful exercises, which help to improve technical skills.
