This thesis presents an analysis of the workshop „The international year of light 2015-amazing and fascinating experiments with light“ that is offered to elementary and kin-dergarten teachers by Dipl.-Päd. Johann Eck, MA. The main objective was to evaluate the structure of the workshop, the relevance of further trainings for teachers, the devel-opment of the teachers conception of light during the course of the workshop and the method of exploratory learning. In order to be able to analyse these aspects, a ques-tionnaire was established and conducted once before and after the workshop. In addi-tion, after the workshop was completed the teachers were interviewed about their change in attitude towards experiments, their conception of light and the use of explora-tory learning in learning processes at school. The results of the questionnaire and the interview show that the workshop had a positive influence on the teachers conception of optical phenomena. Furthermore, the outcomes demonstrate that after absolving the workshop, the teachers motivation for developing learning sequences which include exploratory learning increased. However, even though the highly positive outcomes can be used as a basis for further upcoming workshops of the same kind, they only relate to the 24 teachers who attended the workshop which is why the results should not be gen-eralized.
