Using new media and e-learning concepts is a challenge for teaching and learning processes in economic education. This thesis is about using new media and e-learning concepts in economic education, shown by the example of iPad-classes. First, this thesis tries to answer the question if teaching and learning can be better and more efficient by using new media and e-learning concepts than it is in a traditional educational setting. It also deals with the question which challenges these concepts entail. Second, this thesis is about learning motivation and the question if motivation can be increased by using new media and e-learning concepts. Furthermore, the opportunities and limitations of new media and e-learning concepts in economic education will be discussed. The last chapter deals with iPads and how they can be used in economic education. The goal of this thesis is to illustrate the requirements and challenges of new media and e-learning concepts in educational setting. After the initiation, the second chapter is about teaching and learning with new media. In addition to learning concepts and several forms of learning this thesis also deals with learning motivation and therefor different definitions are given. Furthermore the definition of the competence of media is very important. In the next step multimedia and mobile learning are covered. The third chapter is about e-learning and its definition. At first concepts like Computer Based Training, Web Based Training, Teleteaching, Open Distance Learning and Blended Learning will be introduced, then MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) will be discussed. Finally this thesis deals with different tools. At the end the iPad and its story will be discussed. The last chapter is about iPads and e-learning concepts and tries to answer the question how they can be used in economic education. This thesis is a literature only research.
