Working with vocabulary is one of the most important elements of foreign language education. In conventional classes vocabulary lists used to be applied, which is controversial according to the latest scientific findings. Alternatives to these vocabulary lists are treated in the following thesis. The theoretical part contains information on our personal words-memory; also called mental lexicon‘. After that the protagonist of learning, our brain, and the different brain activities, caused by the various sense organs, are specified.Teachers of foreign languages in particular are often asked for handy learning tips by the pupils or their parents. Therefore, it is necessary to observe the individual preferences. The last chapter of the theoretical part presents four concepts of learning types and learning styles. The integrated comparison of the four concepts helps to classify different types of kids learning behavior.The practical part presents and discusses worksheets, which can immediately be used in Spanish lessons, or can be adapted to other foreign languages. On the one hand, didactical advice is given; on the other hand, the theoretical background of the material is explained.The worksheets are divided into two sections. The first one focuses on studying vocabulary with the help of all four senses. Apart from the commonly used senses, such as the visual sense and the sense of hearing, also the other senses, the gustatory, olfactory and the tactile sense are considered. The second section contains worksheets, which deal with different types of dictionaries.
