My thesis deals with the importance of skiing courses at schools within the subject Physical Education. The importance of movement - especially in childhood and adolescence - is well known. Skiing can add a lot of positive contributions to health, social skills, fun and adventure. The diploma thesis is based on a literature review and covers the themes history of skiing, material and equipment, components of the sporting prowess, and methods of skiing. Furthermore, the thesis discusses skiing in the context of the subject Physical Education as well as the necessary preparation during the school year. The planning of a winter sports week and the final chapter on safety round the paper off. In addition to exercise and sports, social components gain importance. This is why skiing weeks as a supplement to curricular lessons make a valuable contribution not only to the personal development of students but also to a well functioning school and classroom community.
