Nutrition and health are category groups, which are always more centered today. Particularly they are very important in conjunction with adolescence, because a health conscious lifestyle should have priority from childhood on, so that there are no negative outcomes as adult. Target of this master thesis is to call attention to the circumstances and to pull them together with sociological aspects. For this purpose the theoretical part deals with nutrition- and health sociology. Teens have to mind that they don?t lapse into a chancy and unhealthy lifestyle in our today?s consumer society. We all know that the options are boundless. Certainly girls and boys are nearly similar, nevertheless we should keep clearly in mind, that there are gender related approaches. Just mentioned differences are even addicted to social stratum and education. Girls and boys who attend a gymnasium, the assimilation of sexes is further advanced than for teens that belong to a lower social stratum. To measure those mentioned distinctions, a questionnaire study was made, which is explicated in the empirical part of the master thesis. Then the theoretical elaborations and the empirical findings are linked. Nutrition sociology as well as sociology of health have to do a lot of catching up in view of processing new theories and concepts as well as in the empirical field of investigation. To enable this, interdisciplinary collaboration is essential. In today?s industrial companies the category groups health and nutrition cannot be reduced to natural circumstances, but rather the cultural development of humanity becomes important in both disciplines.
