A coworking space is a shared office that is used by entrepreneurs and freelancers running small businesses. Coworking spaces offer flexible memberships, business contacts and social interaction. This study examines the relevance of such workspaces for the translation industry. My approach to analysing collaboration between translators and other professionals is based on Translational Action (Holz-Mänttäri, 1984), Translationskultur (Prun?, 2008) and agency of translators (Abdallah, 2010). Analyses of data gained from six interviews were consistent with the multiple benefits of coworking spaces for translators. The interview analyses suggest that coworking spaces do have a positive effect on translators? working life. The benefits include feedback from other "coworkers" on detailed questions of translation, online and offline presence, office facilities, motivation to work effectively, inspiration, learning from others, feeling of belonging and increased awareness of the translation profession.
