Official Roman Catholic liturgical documents postulate a close relationship between worship and the experience of God's love. My master?s thesis explores if for the participants in Catholic worship services there exists indeed a real connection between the liturgy and diaconia.A fitting example of this topic is ?the liturgy of the hours?. Firstly, the purpose of the liturgy of the hours is outlined on the basis of the general instruction of this liturgical book. Chapter II in particular refers to the text of the book of hours. These texts explore various topics and correlate them to a certain daytime. In this way the central concerns of liturgy of the hours can be developed for the needs of those who are participating in it, yet should remain respectful to the purpose of the general adoption of the book of hours.Secondly, the results of the survey and the interviews conducted are interpreted. The survey is divided by using various topics as headings. Each issue contains four or five suitable questions. In order to distinguish the significance and intensity of the various items for the participants, they had to choose their agreement or disagreement with the statements on a scale from zero to ten. Most of the participants connect liturgy of the hours with a positive healing experience in relation to their own personal relationship with God.A pivotal result of this survey is that the close relationship between liturgy and diaconia is not only a desired effect for those who experience it, but in fact a reality. This depends, however, on how often one participates in this special form of worship.
