GOLF - FITNESSImprove your golf.Preventive protection against possible Golf injuriesStrength, endurance and flexibility are the performance-determining factors that make up the golf swing. In addition one needs a good deal of basic fitness and a certain degree of agility. This work deals with the improvement of basic fitness, which results in an improved performance during the game and prevents injuries. Since golf, concerning the physical motion, is one of the most complex sports, it is essential to have a good physical condition to be able to run long, precise strokes as well as to maintain this performance for several hours.At the beginning this work covers the golf history in general and the development of golf in Austria. Subsequently the author deals with the development of golf equipment. The analysis of the swing, stress on the body with associated orthopaedic risks as well as the current state analysis are highlighted. Simple test procedures are described here. The results can be evaluated using attached evaluation tables. Thus the applied knowledge results in a training schedule. A template for an optimal seasonal preparation and a sample of an annual training scheme is also part of this work.In the main part of the work the author shows practical exercises and exercise sessions that lead to an increase of the performance-determining factors. The pictures always show the author performing the exercises.Towards the end of the work injuries caused by golf and their influencing factors are discussed and finally a fundamental and very important factor is highlighted: Nutrition. Apart from the importance of nutrients in general, an optimal diet on the course and other various factors are explained. Pictures and quotes from former and current professional golfers as well as the author?personal experience contribute to this profound work.
