The EU consumer Rights Directive announced on Nov 22nd in 2011 is to be put into national legislation by Dec 13th, 2013 at the latest. It comprises six chapters. The main focus lies on chapter III, which covers the regulations for the so-called distance and off- premises contracts, which will replace the current Doorstep Selling Directive and the Distance Selling Directive. Primarily, the thesis submitted deals with the right of withdrawal from off-premises contracts and the right of withdrawal from distance contracts as stated in Chapter III of the EU consumer Rights Directive. Furthermore, the focus of the thesis submitted will be on the implementation of the rights in the Austrian legislation.
