The current study shall, based on six interviews with fathers and 33 written records of pupils in the age between 10 and 12 years, create a figure of how fatherhood is understood nowadays or how it is experienced. In the first part of the work the history of the concept of fatherhood and the changings in fathering through the european development and current categories of fatherhood, which will be verified and if necessary extended, will be shown. Above that, there will also be the scientific the matization of the father and the pedagogical accounting brought to light, to show how judgement and transformation of the father concept have been done. It will be shown how social characteristics and goals influenced the configuration of fatherhood and how this changed and illustrated the relationship between fathers and their children. The empiric part attempts to determine how there lationship between fathers and children does appear nowadays, especially confronting the differences and, as contrasted with formertimes, more pluralistic expectations and requirements. Therefore six interviews with fathers and the analysis of the contents were done. The fathers could classified into three categories, although some characteristics came up within all of them. Further different questions, which appeared through the engagement with the theoretic literature, have been brought to light and answered. There was at first the question about them is match of wish and reality, what is the question, how far the fathers live their fatherhood in the way they want to. Secondly, the peculiarities of the specific life situations and how they impact on fatherhood was questioned. On the other hand the children?s views and opinions have been acquired from essays the children wrote in school. The statements have been contrasted where it was possible. The contents of the remaining essays have been worked out and specific characteristics have been showed up.
