The following paper is devoted to one question. In how far is sport (organized by clubs) able to contribute to integration of people with migration background. In the beginning, the terms sport and integration are defined and associated to each other. Further, numbers, data and indicators of migration and integration in Austria are disclosed. The main part focuses on the connections of sporting activities with social integration. For this reason, the successful and in the German speaking world, most known sport initiative program of the German Olympic Sport Union, Integration via Sport, will be focused on for evaluation, as well as other result of its intensive evaluation. On the other hand, an evaluation done in Switzerland in 2009 and 2010 titled, "Sport and Social Inclusion" which deals with the topic mentioned above is discussed. In the final chapter the results of the evaluation are presented by contrasting both studies and their similarities are displayed. By accepting the fact that social integration of people with migration background in and by club organized sport is not an automatism, then this paper will show the determining factors to support integration that will be helpful to (club organized) sport to develop inherent integration potentials. These may further be relevant for the strategic and conceptual work in the sport clubs.
