The potential, to make progress with the personality development within the AHS, is probably given. Generally, a glimpse on sport already shows how complex the possibilities of human development are by doing sports. A clear definition of the term "sport" does not exist, which shows, how this section is explored insufficiently. Sure is, that sports has effects on one?s personality (comp. Bachleitner-Hofmann 1986, Seitz & Bäumler1972, Neumann 1964, etc.). Not always do these effects need to be positive, which Vanek & Hosek (1977) show. "Personality" and "social competence" consist of several characteristics. That is why they are very extensive terms. Qualities, which seem important for the planning of the schedule had been singled out of literature and then quoted, which should enable to understand the terms "personality" and "social competence" a little bit better. These terms are taken into consideration at the planning of the schedule and developed, to reach the goal of a positive personality development. The curriculum of the AHS, which demand a positive personality development by physical education ? and therefore also by volleyball training - shows that these qualities are seen as important. According to the schedule of the lower school, social competence should be developed like this. The schedule of the upper stage refers on the desired strengthening of personality. Both, the anchoring in the schedule and the clearly defined statement of Neumann (1964) which sais that characteristics of personality, which had been developed with sports, should be adapted into daily life, indicates that volleyball can develop personality. On the one hand, one of the crucial questions, if volleyball can promote personality, can be answered with a "probably yes" and on the other hand, it gives us the authorization for the planned schedule, which should demonstrate how personality may can be promoted.
