Within this work the sport Stand UP Paddle Boarding (SUP) is considered from various angles to give a complete picture of the sport. Introductory the history of this rediscovered sport, which finds his origin in surfing, is illuminated. An additional part focuses on the various fields of application of SUP, varying from wave, fitness or flat water cruising and race. The importance of the right choice of equipment and its differentiation is spotted in another part oft he work. Furthermore the motivational aspects that lead to the exercise of the sport are indicated. It presages that within the various fields of application there is a big distinction of underlying motivations. It should be demonstrated that SUP offers a huge variety of motivations for people of all ages to do the sport. As one of the final parts oft he work the methodology for beginners in SUP is described. Supported by several series of pictures the first steps on board and the basic technique of paddling are presented and described. A special methodology of the first steps in wave SUP and the correct behaviour between surfers when riding waves is concluding the paper.
