The Ku Klux Klan was founded between December 1865 and June 1866 in Pulaski. Since itsfoundation there have been different phases, with a lot of changes. The time of its existence canbe classified in six phases, the racist basic adjustment can be found in each of them. Duringthe second phase of the KKK it had its maximum number of members, about five millionpeople joined the Klan at this time and there also has been a separate women organisation.Kids also could join the Klan and partizipate in its activities. From the beginning until nowthe Ku Klux Klan has been a part of the American nation and ideology. Because of thehorrible acts of violence commited by some klanmembers, the Klan became well known allaround the world and divisions spread not only in the United States, but also in Europe andAfrica. Today there are between 80 and 150 different klanorganisations only in the USA withan estimated number of five thousand men and women. This diploma thesis tries to give a review of the different phases of the Ku Klux Klan, witha special issue on women, racism and antisemitism in the Klan on the base of the researchesof Wyn Craig Wade, David M.
