This thesis deals with the development of the territorial administration and jurisdiction in Galicia and Lodomeria in the period from 1848 to 1918.The different organisational structures of the administration and jurisdiction are largely due to the historical reforms of 1848, 1851 and 1867, as well as to numerous smaller displacements of municipal corporations and responsibilities. At the beginning of each chapter a brief overview of the relevant constitutional changes and the planned administrative and juridical organs is given. The focus of this thesis is a detailed listing of the developments from 1853 to 1918, which especially points out, how the conversion from the ?gemischten Bezirksämtern? to the ?Bezirkhauptmannschaften? and ?Bezirksgerichten? took place. The listing includes, based on the ?Reichsgesetzblätter?, the dates of territorial changes, as well as the dates of the establishment and dissolution of the different institutions. Furthermore the fact, that the reconstructions of the organisational structures in Galicia sometimes performed differently than in the remaining parts of the Austrian Empire, has been considered. Finally is to mention, that the changing of the organisational structure of the administration and jurisdiction was not yet completed at the end of the monarchy in 1918.
