The NMS Markt Allhau, an educational institution in southern Burgenland (Austria), is well-known for its competence-based school and teaching concept. It is the only Neue Mittelschule that forms part of the educational network Lafnitztal, which connects various educational institutions that serve pupils of all age and grade levels.Due to its special position, the school puts great emphasis on an extensive school transition programme cooperating with all the surrounding primary schools and secondary colleges. This thesis, however, only considers the important transition to secondary college education and takes up the example of NMS Markt Allhau and its partner schools. These include: BAfEP Oberwart, BHAK / HAS Oberwart, HBLA Oberwart, HLW Pinkafeld and HTL Pinkafeld. The aim of this master thesis was to evaluate to which extent the pupils are prepared for secondary college at NMS Markt Allhau and to assess whether the results are related to its unique school and teaching concept, as well as additional competence-enhancing measures. For analysis purposes, data on the different competences (social competence, personal competence, method competence, professional competence, presentation competence and digital competence) was collected by the teachers of the partner schools with the help of a written questionnaire. The research results clearly show that the performance of the pupils is satisfactory in all the competence areas addressed. The areas of social competence, as well as personnel competence, were assessed particularly positively by the teachers who were interviewed. The four other areas showed equally consistent results.
