The World Wide Web and Social Media have become increasingly important in recent years. Companies of different sectors took notice of this trend and started using the World Wide Web along with Social Media. This thesis focuses on one specific branch. The focus lies on tax advisory and auditing companies located in Styria. This thesis' objective is to analyze, how many of those companies have a corporate web site. Furthermore, it is tried to determine, whether the companies are present in social networks like Facebook, Xing and LinkedIn. Therefore, the presence of representative bodies of the companies on the social network Xing has been examined. According to the objectives mentioned above, the following research question arises: Do the tax advisory companies and their representative bodies in Styria have a presence on web and social networks in the monitored year of 2017. To find answers to the points mentioned above, a complete survey has been done and analyzed. The data for this complete survey was retrieved from the Chamber of Public Accountants and Tax Advisors (KWT), the commercial register, the mentioned social networks and the World Wide Web. Those findings have to be interpreted objectively as well. As a result, a further objective is to examine the indications, hich speak against the usage of social networks. The corresponding research question to the objective mentioned above is: Which evidence speak against the use of social networks such as Facebook, Xing and LinkedIn at a company level? For this reason, five experts, which serve as representative bodies of the companies in Styria, have been chosen and interviewed. In chapter 4 the findings are presented. In Chapter 5 the research questions are discussed.
