Born into what is known as the modern era, he was a contemporary witness and, due to his Jewish background, victim of National Socialism ? clarifying the events of this period and higher education were both personal concerns of his. Influenced by the modern era and its early effects on public education, his views were often misin-terpreted. He was, however, a philosopher of the people who campaigned for edu-cation and social equity. This work therefore addresses the extent to which Ador-no?s ideas and thoughts on education can be carried over to the present higher education situation and thereby establishes their current relevance. The author discusses Adorno?s most important works on education and, through extensive literature research, illustrates the connection to present concerns in higher educa-tion.
