Since January 1st, 2000 publications of bankruptcies have been published on the Internet. That causes problems, which are widely spread. Although the publications of bankruptcies have been done on the Internet for this quite long time now, the difficulties concerning legal questions and problems that occur with publications did not lose its relevance.This thesis deals with those legal questions and problems. At first the diploma student discusses general matters not only about the publication of bankruptcy proceedings, but also about the publication on edicts. Subsequently, the benefits accompanying the publication of bankruptcy proceedings, available on http://www.edikte.justiz.gv.at, are explained. Based on the knowledge about publication of bankruptcy proceedings on the Internet, the problems are going to be discussed, as they are of main interest in this thesis. It is going to include the following problems: First, the use of a second-level domain in the Justice, although it is assigned to an administrative organ. Second, the obligation of large and small businessmen and private individuals to inspect the publications of bankruptcy proceedings on the internet regularly and their different standards of care. Third, the problems and the consequences of incorrectly announced decisions. Furthermore, problems related to the debtors businesses and many more topics are going to be discussed in this thesis. One part of it is also dedicated to the data protection concerning bankruptcies of private individuals.
