The dissertation deals with the conception of the programme "Xundheit", which presents a basic programme in connection with a setting-related health promotion subject to the special requirements of the Polytechnische Schule(prevocational school). The dissertation is divided into the two sections of "Theoretic Scientific Discourse" and "Empiric Programme Development Xundheit". The first section can be understood as "basis" or "component" for the conception of the programme Xundheit. The program "Xundheit" orientates itself on the bio-psychological health paradigma and its principles are based on the salutogenetic perspective of the theory of Aaron Antonovsky. The process of the program preparation follows the best practice concept. For the programme development, empirical data, gathered through questionnaire surveys, group discussion, and expert interviews, were used. Study participants were headmasters and pupils from selected Polytechnische Schule. The programme contents focused on conditions and activities in the context of the Polytechnische Schule having a salutogenetic effect on the health of the pupils. With the salutogenetic direction of the setting Polytechnische Schule, school shall be perceivable as a coherent living environment for the pupils. This environment, together with the scholastic communication of knowledge-based health literacy, shall contribute to a personality development of the pupils, like a stronger self-confidence, a perceived self-efficacy, a higher resistance to stressors and an optimistic life perspective.
