The work picks out as a central theme the setting of Graz youngsters to the social processes and developments in Austria and the perception of the future perspectives. Special attention is laid on the differences of the settings of youngsters after gender and education status. The four subject areas concern to the meaning of acquisition work and family foundation for young people, the problem consciousness to the demographic change and the interest and trust in political processes, as for example the future provision for the old age. First general bases are youth theories as well as data and facts about the today's or future life situation of Austria`s youth. Afterwards the methodology of the work is described closer, and also a short, demographic description or image of the ten youthful interview partners was stated. The empiric part of the work is divided in five chapters. The fist chapter deals with the value and the meaning of occupation for young people. The following chapter deals with the settings to family, children and marriage. The third chapter acts with youngsters and their settings to politics. The last chapter, is about the ageing of the society and how the problem consciousness is coined among the youngsters. At the end of the empiric part it is analysed, if youngsters are basically optimists or pessimists concerning their future images and which differences there are among the young people. As the most important literature for underpinning the results the ?Austrian youth-value study, the second ?Styrian youth study? as well as two ?Shell youth-value studies? were taken.
