This master thesis entitled 'Transition from school to work. A focus on social-pedagogical projects for early school-leavers' provides a look at early school-leavers from the micro- and macro-structural perspective. Both the Austrian education system and the Austrian labor market and labor market policies are critically examined. On this basis, the challenges of the subject in the transition from school to work are discussed. Additionally, existing institutional arrangements for early school-leavers are presented, which are focusing on qualification and vocational training. The empirical part was separated into two different sections. First, the qualification project Alb@tros, which offers early school-leavers the possibility to get a certification on ISCED 2-level, was evaluated. Second, the three vocational training projects Job Ahoi!, WerkSTATT Bregenz and Startbahn. Both evaluations examined the strengths and weaknesses of the projects, particularly the resources that may result from the connection to the youth work. Thereby, the projects are recognized as effective initiatives, partly because of the criteria low-threshold, voluntariness and individual support. Nevertheless, there was also potential for the development of the projects, which is also related to financial resources.
