This thesis is about artificial diet. The first chapter critically examines the types of arificial nutrition and their application and offers a brief historical review. The second part deals in great detail with the instrument of an advance directive ab outlines methods to defend against artificial feeding through a living will. The third section clarifies on a constitutional and criminal level whether a person should ever be forced to food intake. The penultimate chapter is dedicated to the practice, in which the areas of geriatrics, pediatrics and psychiatry are discussed. This chapter will reveal in a subtle way any possible abuses, as well as explicitly stress all positive aspects. As a method, interviews with doctors, lawyers and social workers are critically analyzed on a legal as well as socio-medical level. Eventually the author provides clear and brief suggestions in the chapter of this work.
