It is well known that more and more school-age children suffer from bad postures, primary prevention is given little attention, though. Without adequate measures, poor postures and postural defects may lead to a decrease in performance and physical condition later on in life. Besides personal consequences, treatment of impacted body postures is associated with high health costs for the state. Therefore, it should also be the interest of politics to establish preventive measures at school.The aim of this study is to elaborate the underlying causes, and factors contributing to poor postures and postural defects. Based on these findings, possibilities and resources of the institution school counteracting the increasing occurrence of postural defects are identified.The concept of ‚Bewegte Schule and physical education can intervene lacking exercise, prolonged sitting, reduced performance, and consequently one-sided use of certain muscles in a positive way, thereby alleviating the occurring changes in everyday lives and contributing to psychological well-being. Through early, preventive measures and physical activity, a stable and healthy posture can be guaranteed. It is not just “school” that is solely responsible for health promotion and physical education, but school can doubtlessly contribute in numerous ways.
