This Thesis deals with the gravestones of Roman horsemen of Noricum and the west of the province Pannonia Superior. The first part is about the definition of the stelae themselves. The next chapter concentrates on the heros equitans, which can be found on the stones. The nucleus of this thesis, however, deals with the cataloging and analysis of the present Roman cavalry stelae, which are divided in two chapters, according to their geographical origin. The catalogue concentrates on the evaluation of inscriptions and interpretation of the obtained visual information found on the stelae. One, again according to geographical aspects banded analysis lies its main attention on the relations between the dates, the iconography and the exact origin of the stelae. This part is connected to the catalogue. The conclusion of this work is written as a chapter itself, in which the information obtained from the two catalogues and evaluations are compared and evaluated again to get a more precise picture of the tombstones of roman horsemen.
