This paper demonstrates the necessity of the transfer of knowledge of ERP systems in class in school training firms and develops learning materials consisting of a manual and a study package for the efficient introduction and use of the ERP system SAP ERP® for training firms. In the theoretical introduction the importance of ERP systems for the development of comprehensive understanding of processes as well as the significance of practice firms in commercial education for the strengthening of learning empowerment are elaborated. Furthermore the author examines the current use of SAP in the Austrian school system, and elaborates advantages over other ERP systems. Due to the complexity of the SAP software, the demand for learning materials for the efficient introduction and use in class is then deduced, outlining the structure and use thereof. The practical part of this paper is dedicated to the development of learning materials for students of vocational middle and higher schools. In the first part of the documents, the SAP manual offers an overview over the most important business transactions within the work of the practice firms, and provides an introduction to the processing with SAP ERP® by means of a detailed documentation of the business transactions. The SAP study package, which contains a compilation of documents with corresponding sample solutions in addition to a work plan, forms the second part of the practical implementation, and is intended to enable students to consolidate their knowledge with exercises. Despite the high complexity of the system, the author?s perspective is that the use of SAP in school training firms is important for the development of a comprehensive systems understanding. The study materials designed in this paper serve the facilitation of the study routine in the training firms, both for teachers and for students.
