The aim of this master thesis is to highlight the educational potential of climbing and to develop a guide to the integration of climbing into the school curriculum for teachers. Particularly the two disciplines sport climbing and bouldering are considered. At the beginning of this work, the climbing sport with its various possibilities of exercise and safety-relevant aspects is described. Based on this, the special of school sports and the aspects of motor skills in the context of climbing are treated as well as the importance of climbing as a psychological regulator through the necessary analysis of fears. One of the central themes in this thesis are the educational areas of the Austrian school curriculum and the experience and learning areas of the climbing sport. The last chapter contains two main topics for the practical implementation of climbing units in school sports. Firstly, the training requirements and possibilities for teachers are presented before the chances for the young people in the exercise of the climbing sport are discussed. Finally, a collection of practical exercises and security techniques for climbing as well as climbing games are provided. The focus is on the beginner level and the exercises are intended for performing in the bouldering hall or in the gym.
