The present master thesis deals with the development of health education and the analysis of the programmes offered by the adult education centre Styria. Starting point was the continuously increasing interest in health education in the area of adult education. The theoretical part of the thesis elaborates on relevant terminology as well as the historical context of health and adult education. Additionally, this part explains the growing interest in this area and the subject matter of programme analysis itself. In the empirical part of the paper, a programme analysis was conducted by examining the programme guide of the adult education centre Styria. The acquired findings illustrate the development of the health education and highlight aspects which have not only improved, but also deteriorated.
