This paper deals with new modalities in word formations in Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian Internet forums. The new words should be analyzed in order to find out which are the most frequent parts of speech and word formations. In the first part present investigations on Communication in the Internet are discussed. The characteristics of language which are used in chat groups are explained and an overview of the concepts of synchronous and asynchronous situation of communication is given. In the second part, the analitical part of the thesis, the analysis starts with specific features of the communication in forums: the use of diacritic marks, capitalisation and use of small letters and of course the use of emoticons. Afterwards an overview of the word education kinds in grammar is given. However, the focus is set on the analysis of new word formations in Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian in Internet forums. The lexemes are analysed according to their part of speech and their types of word formation. Another important point is to resolve their origin and semantic meaning.To sum up, it can be said that the analysed words in this work are a small part of all neologisms in the Internet forums. Many of the new word creations were influenced by the English language. These Anglicisms were often used because there is still no adequate translation for Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian.
