The present master thesis deals with the leisure trend "Geocaching" in the specific context of tourism. Thereby Geocaching, which is a modern paper chase that uses the help of GPS coordinates, is developed as an offer tool for tourist regions. For this purpose, the thesis is structured in a theoretical part, which first examines the traditional geocaching and then focuses on the features and components of a tourist-oriented Geocaching based on a comprehensive literature review, and a practical part. The "touristic Geocaching" is not only focused on finding the Geocache, but rather foregrounds, in a combination of staging-related puzzles and challenges, the region and its specifics in the course of information brokerage. Using Geocaching offers tourist regions an innovative tool that refers to a collective valorisation and competition strengthening of a region. This will be illustrated in the practical part of this thesis, where the theoretical remarks are implemented in a touristy designed Geocaching concept on the basis of application region Nature Park Southern Styria.
