The following thesis addresses the current issue, regarding competence-based education within physical education in Austria and presents a way to establish competence-modules for the advanced level of a high school. It has the ambition to simplify the complex structure of the current designs of competence-based education, which also includes scholastic standards in Austria. Furthermore I will present a tennis-module for beginners, embedded in the now described issue. The imparting of core competencies, which are necessary to succeed in higher education or at the labour market, should be the main goal of the competence-based education. This thesis suggests that it is possible to gain these core competencies in every teaching subject, including physical education. General introductions and fact-based examples, presented in the thesis, should provide a universal comprehensive overview. I will also present a possibility to implement a tennis-module within the now introduced issue, which contains an appropriate didactical, methodical and organisational execution model. In the summary the author gives an adequate perspective, how further competence-modules, regarding tennis-specific contents, could be implemented into the high school education.
