The present work deals with the topic "Fitness through Dance in Schools". The main focus lies on the methodical and didactic structure of dance fitness classes. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical section. In the theoretical part the similarities and differences of the dance styles Dance Aerobics and Zumba Fitness are described in detail. After explaining the various basic steps, the focus is placed on lesson plans. The main question is: What is the difference between traditional Dance Aerobics classes and Zumba Fitness? Attention is paid to the proper compilation of a choreography, possible options and build-up methods. In addition, music theory and motivational teaching are described.The objectives to be achieved in the curriculum of colleges (grammar schools sixth forms) in "Physical exercise" (PE) are subsequently listed. Furthermore, the author analyzes which goals can be achieved through dance units in PE and what skills are thereby promoted.It is the objective of the practical part of this work to analyse and to set out the possibilities of dance fitness classes in PE. In an eight-week module three lesson plans were developed for Dance Aerobics as well as a lesson plan for Zumba Fitness, both for college classes.
